Draft Mode - Tools | Piece

Piece tools

The tools described in this section have been designed to create new pattern pieces which could than modify in Piece Mode.

Add New Pattern Piece (Shortcut N, P)

Used to create the details of the pattern piece
Click on each node and curve surrounding the pattern piece (lines do not need to be included). Press enter to complete the pattern piece. Switch to the Piece mode tab to add seam allowances, labels, notches and grain lines.
Important note:Select main path of objects clockwise. Use Shift to reverse curve direction or use Ctrl to keep curve direction
You can edit all properties later in Piece mode
  • Piece name: A unique piece name is mandatory

Add Anchor Point (Shortcut A, P)

Used to pin the labels and grain lines in a specific area of the pattern piece
Select a node and the pattern piece. Edit the pattern piece in the Piece mode
  • Point: Node added as an anchor
  • Piece: Select the pattern where to add the nodes

Insert Nodes (Shortcut I, N)

Used to insert nodes that have either been forgotten or added after the creation of the pattern piece
Select the node or curve and the pattern piece. Edit the pattern piece in the Piece mode
  • Piece: Select the pattern where to add the nodes
  • Nodes: Selected nodes

Add Internal Path (Shortcut I, P)

Used to create markings on the pattern piece
Select the nodes and curves along the path to be printed onto the pattern. Press Enter to complete the selection. Name the path, choose whether an internal path or custom seam allowance, the type of line and which pattern piece it must be added to.
  • Name: Name of internal path
  • Type: Choose internal path or custom seam allowance
  • Linetype: Specify the linetype
  • Piece: Choose the pattern piece where to add the line
  • Cut on fabric: It’s supposed to idicate whether you want internal paths included in the cut path (layout) when using a cutter to cut the pattern pieces. Enabling the cut on fabric will set the color to black in the layout - which is usually the color that gets cut.
