Configuration
Select the Configuration icon in the left vertical menu. Review the settings below. It's recommended for these settings remain at default settings.
Configuration
Save:
Auto-save modified pattern Interval: Default is checked with a 5 minute interval. Seamly2D will save your pattern file every few minutes to a file with '.autosave' file extension. Recommended to leave these values at default settings.
Language:
GUI Language: Seamly2D will use your computer's operating system region/locale to select a language for translating GUI text and measurement names. If none of the supported languages match your locale, Seamly2D will default to English. If you select a language you must close Seamly2D and restart.
Decimal Separator parts: Your operating system's locale will default to either a comma "," or period "." as the numeric decimal separator. You may override the default. You cannot use both separators in a formula at the same time.
Default Unit: Centimeters (cm), Millimeters (mm) or Inches (in). This unit is used when creating new patterns in Seamly2D and new measurement files in SeamlyMe.
Label language: Seamly2D will use the alphabetic symbols associated with this language to generate the labels for pattern points.
Pattern making system
System: Seamly2D defaults to 'None' for 'Pattern making system'. If you select a patternmaking system, the measurement template for that system (if it exists) will be used to pre-select measurements when you create a new measurement file. Note: It is not necessary to select a pattern making system, Seamly2D defaults to 'None'. This option allows Fashion Design students to select their course's pattern making system, find the book for the system, create measurement files for that system, and enter formulas from the book using the measurement names of that system. This way Seamly2D can assist students who are learning patternmaking. Students can quickly learn the measurement set and formulas, and try out the system in software before making (many) mistakes on paper!
Author and Book: These fields are auto-populated when a pattern making system is selected. This helps students know which book's edition was used to gather the measurement list for their system.
Crash reports
Send crash reports (recommended): We recommend that you leave this box checked. Crash reports help us to find and fix problems very quickly.

Count Steps: Default is 0 (unlimited). We recommend leaving at 0 until you learn more about Seamly2D. If your system is slow reduce to 50, then in steps down to 15 for speed improvement. We don't recommend less than 15.
Graphical output
Use antialiasing: Check box is selected by default. We recommend using anti-aliasing. Read more about anti-aliasing on Wikipedia.
User Defined Materials*
Delete All: For future use.
Workpiece
Forbid Flipping: Default is un-checked. This setting prevents pattern pieces to be flipped or reversed during the creation of the layout image. When a pattern piece is reversed, the labels will not be reversed. This can be confusing when placing pattern pieces on fabric. This setting can also be applied to each pattern piece in Details mode.
Hide Main Path: Default is un-checked. This setting prevents the seamline from showing on the pattern pieces under Detail or Layout once a seam allowance had been added.
Seam allowance
Default value: The default width of auto-generated seam allowances.
Notches
Show second notch on seamline: Default is un-checked. Check this box if you create patterns without seam allowances so that notches will be included in the layout image. This setting can also be applied to each pattern piece in Details mode.
Default type: Default is Slit. Diamond is what the "big four" American pattern companies use.
Length: Default is 0.250. How far should the notches stick from their bases on the cut-line?
Width: Default is 0.250. How wide/far apart should the notch marks be?
Label data/time format
Date: This drop menu contains a number of different date formats. Whether you prefer day-first, month-first or year-first, there's an option for you.
Time: Do you prefer 24hr time, or am/pm (AP)? Do you want to print your patterns with the exact second you created the layout, or is minute close enough? There are only four options. Fancy stuff like unicode time, or Star Trek time are not available. If such things are important to you, you could ask them to be added on the forum, or better yet take advantage of the open source to DIY, & then ask the devs to integrate your code for the sake of the other fans of that time-keeping system!
