<span style="color: red;">While I am giving a brief explanation of how to use the tools, I am by no means expert in their use and you will have to explore them for a deeper understanding of the intricate power of these tools that will unleash a new world of opportunities in your creativity.</span>
|

|Click on the axis node. Enter the radius (or a distance) formula from the axis. Enter the first angle and the second angle from the axis node. Angle values <code>0</code> & <code>360</code> will create a full circle.
Tool Arc
|-

|
Click on the point that you’d like to have at the centre of your arc and the following pops up where you can enter the dimensions you require:
|

* Name: Name of the new arc

* Center point: Center point of the arc

* Radius: You can define a fixed radius or use formulas for adaptive / calculated values
I have used direct values to illustrate this tool, however, you may use presets created while creating your pattern piece.
* First Angle: You can define a fixed angle or use formulas for adaptive / calculated values

* Second Angle: You can define a fixed angle or use formulas for adaptive / calculated values
Radius is the distance from your centre point (A12)
* Attributes: Specify the color, linetype and lineweight of the new node
The first angle is the start position where you'd like your curve to start. I have used 45 degrees but one can use the angle between two lines.
|-

|
The second angle is the end position where you'd like your curve to end. I have used 90 degrees.
|
Below is an example of where the 1st angle is 90 and the 2nd is 45:

This tool will place a point at any point along an arc.
Select the arc and specify where you'd like the point. In this case, I selected the arc created above and chose to place a point 1 third of the way along the arc.

Tool Point Intersect Arc and Axis
This tool will place a point where an arc intersects with an axis. Select the arc and then the axis point or formula.

Tool Point of Intersection Circles
This tool will create 2 circles that will remain invisible in your actual pattern piece and is used to create a point where the 2 circles intersect. Again, one can choose the 1st or 2nd intersection.

Select the 1st point that will form the centre of the 1st circle, and then the point that will for the centre of the 2nd circle. In the Tool Options on the right side, you may enter the length of the radius of the circles as in the 2nd image.

As you can see in the 3rd image, in the pattern piece, the point (A27) appears to be disconnected to any lines until you join lines to it.

Draft Mode - Tools | Arc

Arc tools[edit | edit source]

The tools described in this section have been designed to create the arcs required in some conditions. Such conditions can be different, for example distance or angle, parents' positions, etc.

Arc - Radius and Angles (Shortcut Alt+A)[edit | edit source]

Used to create an arc at a distance from an axis node
Click on the axis node. Enter the radius (or a distance) formula from the axis. Enter the first angle and the second angle from the axis node. Angle values 0 & 360 will create a full circle.
 • Name: Name of the new arc
 • Center point: Center point of the arc
 • Radius: You can define a fixed radius or use formulas for adaptive / calculated values
 • First Angle: You can define a fixed angle or use formulas for adaptive / calculated values
 • Second Angle: You can define a fixed angle or use formulas for adaptive / calculated values
 • Attributes: Specify the color, linetype and lineweight of the new node

Point - On Arc (Shortcut O, A)[edit | edit source]

Used to place a node on an arc
Click on the arc and enter the distance from the start of the arc where you’d like to place a node
 • Name: Name of the new arc
 • Arc: Selected arc
 • Length: You can define a fixed radius or use formulas for adaptive / calculated values

Point - Intersect Arc and Axis (Shortcut A, X)[edit | edit source]

Used to place a node on an arc where an axis would intersect an arc
Click on the arc and then on an axis node, drag around in the general direction and click. You may now edit the angle or enter a formula to get the precise placement of the node
 • Axis point: Start point of axis. It's the second point you selected
 • Curve: Curve you selected first
 • Name: Name of the new node
 • Angle: You can define a fixed angle or use formulas for adaptive / calculated values
 • Attributes: Specify the color, linetype and lineweight of the new node

Point - Intersect Arcs (Shortcut I, A)[edit | edit source]

Used to create a node where at the intersection of two arcs
Select the first arc and then the second arc. A node will be created where they intersect. You may choose between the first or second point of intersection if there are two places where they intersect
 • Name: Name of the new node
 • First arc: First selected arc
 • Second arc: Second selected arc
 • Take: First point (nearest to start point), Second point (nearest to end point)

Point - Intersect Circles (Shortcut Shift+I, Shift+C)[edit | edit source]

Used to create a node at the intersection of two circles
Select the node at the centre of the first circle and then the node at the centre of the second circle. Enter the diameters of both circles and select whether you want to take the first or second point
 • Name: Name of the new node
 • Take: First point (nearest to start point), Second point (nearest to end point)
 • Circle 1 - Center: First selected point
 • Circle 1 - Radius: You can define a fixed radius or use formulas for adaptive / calculated values
 • Circle 2 - Center: Second selected point
 • Circle 2 - Radius: You can define a fixed radius or use formulas for adaptive / calculated values
Important note:If no intersection could be calvculated, Seamly2d will show you an error message and place the nodes at 0, 0 X/Y position.

Point - Intersect Circle and Tangent (Shortcut C, T)[edit | edit source]

Used to create a node where a line touches the circle
Select the axis node and then the circle centre. Enter the radius of the circle
 • Name: Name of the new node
 • Take: First point (nearest to start point), Second point (nearest to end point)
 • Center point: Second selected point
 • Tangent point: First selected point

Used to create a node on an arc where a line touches the arc
Select the axis node and then the arc. You may choose between the first or second point of intersection
 • Name: Name of the new node
 • Tangent point: First selected point
 • Arc: Selected arc
 • Take: First point (nearest to start point), Second point (nearest to end point)
Important note:If no intersection could be calvculated, Seamly2d will show you an error message

Arc - Radius and Length (Shortcut Alt+Shift+A)[edit | edit source]

Used to create an arc where the arc-line is a given length
Select the centre-node for the arc and then enter the radius, the angle at which you’d like the arc to begin and the length of the arc-line.
