== Line tools == <!--T:1-->

<!--T:2-->
Up until now, we’ve been working with tools to place points and we’ve had the choice to include lines. However, a lot of the time, if we add lines, our design gets very messy with a multitude of lines that we don’t really use and things become very confusing when actually drafting our pattern layout.<br>
Tools described in this section designed to allow create point under certain conditions. Such conditions can be different, for example distance or angle, parents positions and etc.
To avoid this, I either use a dotted line or no line at all.<br>
Some of the tools, like the True Dart tool, only place the points and we then need to ‘connect the dots’ to get the outline of the pattern piece that we want. This is where Lines, Curves and Elliptical Arcs come in.<br><br>
As soon as you select a tool, there is a little help sentence that pops up in the bottom left corner, like this:<br>

When in doubt, see what this tells you to do.<br><br>

Draft Mode - Tools | Line

Line tools[edit | edit source]

Tools described in this section designed to allow create point under certain conditions. Such conditions can be different, for example distance or angle, parents positions and etc.

Line between 2 Points (Shortcut Alt+L)[edit | edit source]

Create a line between two nodes
Click on the first and second nodes. You may edit the type of line and the colour of the line. The length of this line will be available in formulas
  • Name: Name of the new node
  • First point: First point
  • Second point: Second point
  • Attributes: Specify the color, linetype and lineweight of the new node

Point - Intersect Lines (Shortcut I, L)[edit | edit source]

Create a new node at the intersection of two lines
Click on the first and second nodes of the first line and then on the first and second nodes of the second line. A node will be placed at the intersection
  • Name: Name of the new node
  • First point: First point of first line
  • Second point: Second point of first line
  • First point: First point of second line
  • Second point: Second point of second line
  • Attributes: Specify the color, linetype and lineweight of the new node
